About Me
Dr. Huerta was born and raised in Mexico City. He obtained his veterinary degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2017. After graduating from vet school, he went to California to do an Equine Rotating Internship at Pacific Crest Equine Hospital (2018-2019), after which he decided to switch pathways and completed a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island, NY (2019-2020), followed by a surgical internship at Miami Veterinary Specialists (2020-2021), a surgical oncology internship at the University of Florida (2021-2022), and a surgical research internship at the University of Pennsylvania (2022-2023). Dr. Huerta finally obtained the opportunity to pursue his dream of becoming a small animal surgeon by joining the MVA team to begin his surgery residency in July of 2023.
Dr. Huerta is especially interested in oncologic and orthopedic surgery, but enjoys being in the OR performing all types of surgeries. When he is not at work, Dr. Huerta enjoys running, working out, hiking, playing volleyball, and any other outdoor activities. He strongly believes that laughing is, and will always be, the best form of therapy.
