Veterinary Cardiologist Dr. Michael Miller obtained his BS at Florida State University in 1972 and MS in cardiac electrophysiology in 1975 at Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine where he was a member of a Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) research team that explored cardiac arrhythmia theories as a potential cause of SIDS. He received his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners since 1985 and recertified in 1995 and 2005.
In 1980 Dr. Miller embarked on a twelve year cardiology apprenticeship with Dr. Larry Tilley, DACVIM (Internal Medicine) at the Animal Medical Center and Cardiopet, Inc. He was a cardiology consultant, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and Board Director during his tenure at Cardiopet, Inc. (1980-1992). Dr. Miller received the American Animal Hospital Association (northeast region) Outstanding Service to Veterinary Medicine award in 1992.
