Sheri E., CVT – Emergency Coordinator

What makes MVA a great place to work?

One thing that I always enjoyed about working at MVA is the variety of cases that I get to work on, as an emergency nurse. You have all of the department’s cases in one treatment area. You may have a dental extraction, next to an animal hit by a car, next to a TPLO, etc. It really is a great way to expand your knowledge base.

Also, during our REALLY busy time, the MVA team comes together and ALWAYS helps each other out by staying late or pitching in where its needed. It is reassuring to know that you work with an amazing team.

When I am not at work, I am at the gym or my home. I am a home body who enjoys doing projects around the house and spending time with my fiancé and pets.

Alyssa M., – Education and Development Coordinator

What makes MVA a great place to work?

Being a part of our team! Being surrounded by intelligent, compassionate, and dedicated people is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a rare gift to love what you do, enjoy where you go each day, and appreciate who you get to work with – and MVA has given me all three!

I am fortunate to have teammates who continuously challenge me to be a better nurse, and this in turn gives me the inspiration to discover new/improved ways to provide educational opportunities to keep us all learning & growing.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at MVA saving lives?

Spending time with my family & friends! I love to be immersed in nature – gardening, hiking, camping, canoeing/kayaking – and am an avid swimmer. I also really enjoy baking, painting/crafts, and cheering for my daughter & son at soccer games, swim meets, and flag football games.

What is something that people might not know about you?

I was a part of a research team in 2003 that furthered the findings that a pigment (astaxanthin) that crustaceans (crabs, lobsters) produce protects them from UV radiation. This has since been incorporated into sunscreens, moisturizers, and oral supplements.

How many pets do you have?

One tabby cat named Butter, a ginormous goldfish named Peaches, and 2 pleco fish named Fred & George Weasley.
