Willow, a seven- year- old lively mix of border collie and sheltie collie, has always been full of energy. About a year ago, though, she began having trouble with her left leg, and soon after, her right leg started to bother her too. We were referred to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, where we met Dr. Litterine-Kaufman, or Dr. LK, as he’s known, he quickly diagnosed Willow with bilateral cranial cruciate ligament injuries. The idea of her needing two surgeries—and the recovery time for each—felt overwhelming but Dr. LK put us at ease very quickly.
Dr. LK got us in for the first surgery, which went very well (even if Willow did manage to open her mostly healed wound by licking it!). After her eight-week checkup, we scheduled the second surgery right away. By then, our family—and Willow herself—had settled into a healing routine, which made the decision easier.
I recently sent in her two-week post-op picture and video to Dr. LK, and she’s walking and recovering beautifully she is getting back to her old energetic self. Dr. LK and his team have been incredible—always there to answer questions, listen to concerns, and give the best advice. I can’t recommend Dr. LK enough; if you’re in need of veterinary care for your fur baby, I believe you won’t be disappointed.
