Title: Pardon my French (Bulldog): Surgical and Neurological Conditions of the French Bulldog
When: Thursday, November 7, 2024
Time: Registration opens at 6:30 pm. Dinner and lecture begin at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Crowne Plaza Philadelphia in King of Prussia
Surgery Conditions: In this 60-minute lecture, we will review two common health issues of French Bulldogs: brachycephalic airway syndrome and lateral condylar fracture of the humerus. In the brachycephalic portion of the talk, we will cover upper airway abnormalities as it pertains to French Bulldogs, what we can offer these patients surgically, and determining which dogs are candidates for surgery. In the second portion of the talk, we will discuss the pathophysiology, surgical management, and prognosis of lateral condylar fracture. The talk will include time at the end for questions.
Neurological conditions: We will discuss the various neurological diseases seen in higher frequency in the French bulldog. In many cases, the presentation of these diseases is markedly more severe compared to other breeds. The talk will address congenital malformations, intervertebral disc disease, and most common encephalopathies. Medical and surgical management will be discussed. We will cover when to worry and when to refer.
