Whitney Sia

Surgery, DVM

About Me

Dr. Whitney Sia was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She earned her undergraduate degree from Willamette University before completing her veterinary degree at Oregon State University.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Sia returned to Hawai‘i to complete a rotating internship at VCA Family and Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center in Pearl City. She continued there as an emergency veterinarian for another year before pursuing her passion for surgery. Her journey then took her to Canada for a surgical internship at Toronto Animal Health Partners, followed by a second surgical internship at the Animal Surgical Center of Michigan.

Although her training has taken her farther from home, Dr. Sia is excited to join the MVA team on the East Coast as a surgery resident. Her professional interests include advanced orthopedic procedures, wound reconstruction, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition to her clinical training, she obtained her Canine Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT) certification through North Carolina State University, deepening her understanding and approach to canine rehabilitation.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Sia enjoys staying connected to her island roots through ocean activities like surfing and diving. She also loves exploring the outdoors with her energetic Australian Shepherd, Maya, or relaxing at home with her orange tabby cat, Cheeto.
