My 4-year-old staffy-pit mix, Alfie, had always been an incredibly active and happy dog, but two torn ACLs very quickly changed both of those things. He could barely walk and had no desire to socialize with other dogs or people. We came to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates from NYC for a consult with Dr. Schwab for bilateral TPLO surgery, and immediately I knew we’d come to the right place. Dr. Schwab impressed me as a talented expert in the field, putting me at ease while explaining the surgery, the after-care and recovery process. Alfie stayed at the hospital for 3 days post-surgery, and I got updates from Dr. Schwab and the team every 12 hours. When I came to pick him up, I was sent home with explicit directions for how to care for him, all the medications we would need, and the assurance that if any problems arose, we could be in touch at any time day or night. So far, Alfie’s recovery has gone incredibly smoothly (hopefully I didn’t jinx anything by saying that). But I couldn’t be happier with the care Alfie got and the peace of mind I had thanks to the skill and kindness of Dr. Schwab and every vet, tech and member of the support staff we encountered. I couldn’t recommend Metropolitan Veterinary Associates more highly!
