Small Animal Medicine/Surgery Rotating Internship
The MVA Rotating Internship provides veterinarians with a rigorous one-year program rotating through which we provide a solid foundation in emergency and specialty referral medicine to help you build a future of strong clinical and interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and continued learning. Our interns enjoy protected didactic learning, primary case responsibility, specialty oversight, a five-day work week, and a personalized mentor. We support our interns in their individual goals and provide flex time so you can tailor the internship to your interests. The internship is structured for veterinarians looking to pursue both careers in private practice and further training in residency programs. We emphasize mentoring and teaching to provide a solid foundation in general, emergency, and specialty referral medicine.
Interns rotate through the following required departments at MVA:
In addition to these rotations, the following rotations are also available as electives: Anesthesia, Behavior, Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Behavior.
The program also involves weekly lectures, journal club, morbidity and mortality rounds, and a case presentation in the intern seminar series. Each intern is assigned a mentor who provides guidance throughout the year and assistance in future career plans.
Prospective candidates can contact Dr. Robert Guant at rgaunt@metro-vet.com for more information.
Interns are selected through the Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program.
